Greetings - my first inquiry to the V-max group.
I recently purchased a new '99 model Vmax and I love it! Power, power, and
more power!
Although I'm still breaking in the engine (that task should be completed
sometime this week) I'm only getting about 25mpg in town which I was quite
disappointed with (I have a CBR that gets at least 35-40mpg). I was able
to take it on a small highway trip a couple of nights ago, and it managed
33mpg on that trip -- which I can live with. I'm wondering what kind of
mileage other Vmax riders get. Are these numbers close to everyone else's
or should it be getting mileage? My bike is basically still stock with the
exception of some Cobra pipes which the dealer threw in with the purchase.
