Dennis, I ran in the same problem last year I live in Israel and summer here
is nasty it is above 90 for almost 6 months of the year and one day while I
was waiting on my '92 Max to cool down and start back up after a short stop
I guy came up to me and told me that he has left his down the street with
the same problem I checked the battery which is fairly new and it was low on
water so I added some and recharged it and it ran fine for a while
I had the carbs looked at and synchronized and and again it was fine for a
while then I tock it to have the alternator checked out for output which
was ok but was loosing ~1volt in the wiring on the way to the batt.
so they suggested to have the wiring replaced by saying that this was very
common on the Max but I haven't done that in instead I ripped apart all the
wire connections around the batt. and ground wires and found a good amount
of corrosion buildup so I cleaned them and put everything back together
and it run fine since which is more than a year now. I hope it works out
