Charles,
This is a classic .... "two normal looking plugs and two that are
darker" ... and please correct me if I am wrong but the darker ones
should be the ones in the rear ...... Been there ... done that ... got
a tee shirt ......... and if you keep putting bigger and bigger main
jets in the rears will just keep getting darker and the fronts will
continue to look just fine. The "I don't want to run" behavior should
be until you get past 4500 RPM .. at which time you need to have your
insurance paid up because you go into warp drive ......... On the
other hand if you get into WOT early you can usually leap past the
4500 RPM flat spot, (which only happens if you sneak up on it like a
normal person .... ie: less than full throttle). If you find this to
be the case ... you should at least re-oil the front "oiled at the
factory" filters ... or put socks on them, (UNI socks) .... These are
exactly the symptoms you would have with un-oiled filters or with no
restrictors in the main air jets. There is just not enough vacuum to
suck the fuel out ... you can go all the way up to the DJ190s and the
fronts will continue to look fine ... the rears will get darker and
darker. The reason the rears are behaving normally is because there is
more intake resistance back there ... since they are backed up against
the frame etc ....... The fronts are too open and without more oil or
a sock there isn't enough vacuum at lower RPM to get sufficient fuel.
Also ... keep the fuel bowl vents mounted high in the air cover ... as
this will help equalize the pressure in the fuel bowls ... cutting
them off or doing something clever with them will have an adverse
affect on the fuel trying to get up the jet tubes ...... I am
surprised Dynojet didn't already have you duct tape the front filter
already so they could lecture you about filter oil ........ IMHO of
course ... (but you can have my tee shirt if you want).

As I said, After trying with the needles in the last position (sixth
from top), having the most amount of fuel and the bike behaving like a
mad cow, I tried the 5 th notch, which was the recommended position
from Dynojet after listening to my situation.

Now the bike performs well, has regained its lost punch, but there is
still a flat spot once warmed or better still, the engine behaves as
if it was running on three cylinders. As you accelerate the sound
continues to be more like a twin/triple and then it suddenly picks up
revs after some hesitation and fire and power brakes loose making the
bike run perfectly well. checking the plugs I find two perfectly
normal clear brown and two slightly darker coloured plugs. Best
