#1  I grabbed a power source for mine at the fuse block under the fake tank 
by the seat.  Use a test light to make sure you are using a fuse that is hot 
only when key is on.

#2 Yes you can install a simple switch to manually hold your vboost in the on 
position.  Under your left scoop look for a 3 wire plug, unplug it and cycle 
the key switch to make sure the vboost stops working this way you will be 
sure you have the right one.  Plug it back in and cut the black wire and wire 
it thru a standard single pole switch.  When the switch is in the on position 
the vboost will operate as stock.
When you first turn on the key listen for the vboost to open then turn off 
the switch , this will kill power to the servo motor leaving the boost on.  
Some members say that the springs may pull the vboost back closed a little 
but my bike the servo stays exactly where you shut it off.  Cost is about $ 
2.00  and takes about 15 min.
