Where's the boost?

My new '00 VMAX is two weeks under my ownership and I just picked it up from the dealer's post break-in service (~600 miles).  I just love the machine so far ( I see looks of envy and drooling from those around me), but as I informed the service guy, although the accelleration is great,  6000, 6500, 7000, 7500 rpms go by without fanfare.  The accelleration simply remains smooth and constant.  The service guys at the Yamaha dealer said they made "an adjustment" and that V-boost should now function, but my ride home still revealed no noticeable change as I cross 6K.   So, you venerable veterans of the VMAX, am I expecting something that is not really there or do I need to have a few words the service dude?   KR
