Kevin,
It sounds like your clutch is shot or stuck in the disengaged position.
If you lean the bike on it's sidestand you should be able to remove the
clutch cover w/o loosing too much oil. But since it hasn't ran in 8
years I wouldn't run it with that old oil anyway.
Once you have taken the side cover off, do a visual inspection of the
clutch. You will probably want to replace the the plates with some new
ones. I recommend Barnett's clutch plates. If you need some in depth
