I have installed a Dynojet Stage 1 kit in My '97 Max. I am using the Hindle
4-2-1 SS system with an 18" canister. As per dynojet instructions I
installed the DJ 170 jets and set the needles at groove # 3. float height
has been set and the carbs are syncronized. The problem has been that the
engine bogs when loaded up during acceleration. The higher the gear, the
worse the problem. In fouth gear at 30 MPH (just to test as per dynojet
diagnostic sheet), full throttle snapped open will result in major bogging.
I have been dropping the needles to attempt to fix the problem, and now with
the needles in the #1 position, the problem is much better but I think it
should be cleaner accelerating (I haven't heard my neck snap, yet) . I am
thinking that I will put in the DJ 165's to attempt to lean the whole range
(even though the Dynojet instructions say "use the DJ 170 main jets for
aftermarket exhaust"), but also have been reading previous threads about
PAJ - 1 and PAJ - 2. Is there anyone with experience with using this kit?
I think I'm headed in the right direction, but really hate pulling the carbs
off for no good reason.
