Charles,
I think that the product information supplied in regard to the Dynojet
Stage 7 kit does make it clear that it has a narrow focused
functionality. If you are drag racing ... the low end is of little
concern ... after you go the first 60' you will not be seeing anything
below 7500 RPM before the end of the run anyhow, (unless you break
something). This kit maintains enough "signal" with the individual
filters to give you as much air flow as you can stand on the top end
while still barely being able to suck some gas into the air stream
......

Valiant efforts by some have produced fairly driveable installations
and there are many that are quite happy with the results they have
obtained even driving on the street. Clearly .. any action that
relieves the stock intake arrangement is in most cases going to
require some work to preserve the same mixture the engine was used to
getting on the low end of the RPM scale as well as the top end ... and
the range of combinations to get what you need narrows considerably.

On the other hand .. I think there are plenty of combinations out
there that stay relatively stock and seem to make out just fine
getting those last "inexpensive" horses without nearly as much hassle.

I don't know what the best combination is ... or where to draw the
line between aggravation and dependability .. it is different for
everyone. I think the SPA tach/speedo combination is the best
performance value going. With it's ability to "time" the duration of
programmable speed ranges ... it provides a reliable means to evaluate
performance and the true value of modifications or tuning adjustments.

We are always going to be in an environment where the "one shot"
approach is SOP... it is just human nature. Everyone wants to put a
pipe on and get positive results across the entire RPM range without
making any other adjustments. Same with jet kits ... "I put it in and
it fouled my spark plugs or started backfiring or etc" .. expecting a
"silver bullet" again without making any adjustments. No one knows
better than you I am sure that this isn't the way things work ........
Nor am I implying that you have done this .. because I know how much
time you have spent refining your installation ........ but now that
you are pretty much there ... an honest evaluation reveals some of the
trade offs associated with tuning for the top end ...... It is as
always, (save displacement surgery, fuel injection, etc), "where
would you like your torque ma'am ... up there or down here ??" I'm not
saying you can't get it both places .. it is just once you do ... how
long do you think you can keep it ... since the temperature, barometer
and humidity changes every day ... such is life if you want to live on
the edge ... and you have to have it "all" .......
IMHO ....
