Steve, guess "linkage" was misleading, what I was talking about was the
little articulated connecting rod at the back end of the shift lever. Since
it's threaded and has a hashed knob on it, I assume it's purpose is to
adjust shifter travel. In my logic, if the travel were too short, it would
make it hard to reach 5th; too long and you couldn't reach first, but you'd
better get somebody else's opinion on that before toying with it. I've been
know to be wrong before. Jacques
