I am not sure what you mean by longer bolts? I reversed the pattern on my "P-51"
Max(One-Up, Four-Down). I was having the problem of grabbing neutral instead of
second and over reving. I get a little excited when I put down another tupperware
torpedo! Since I have shifted the pattern I have never hit neutral again by accident.
I do have to admit that I have shiffted "down" into fifth instead of "up" into first
at a street light. Gave quite a few motorest a chuckle whatching me hump my Max,
trying to get back "up" into first before the light changed green!!!! Every thing you
need to do the job is already on the bike. You have to shorten the shift adjuster
double headed shaft, and releave the foot rest support bracket so that the shift
leaver coming out of the tranny can swing down. These directions say use a drimmel to
releave this area:

It took me two hours with a dremmil to do this!!! A die grinder or just a grinder
would be easer!!! A Warnig , DON'T REMOVE TOO MUCH!!. It will seriously weeken the
peg mount, and with it being made out of pot metal, will break. The rest of the mod.
takes about 15 min. I have been very pleased with the result. If you have any
questions...don't hesitate to drop me a line or call (915)857-7345. I am home after
6:00pm mountaiin time.
