Rob, you need to report that dealer to Yamaha. Yes checking the valves
is part of the first service. When you put a new motor together, the
valves clearance is going to change as they run in. If its not done at
12-1,500, you will end up with valves that don't close and your pocket
is going to get light. The reason for this mileage is to give them time
to do all the moving their going to do. You need to find another dealer!
