this is Charles, sorry to get into this conversation, but I think it was cleared out a
few months ago that even though all of us thought that it was sheer madness not to do
it, Yamaha states, just reading the owners handbook that they do not carry out a valve
clearance check till you've done 42.000 Km here in Europe, which would roughly be
25.000 miles in the US or 48 months. I guess that if you want it done you'll have to
pay for it.........
It's absolutely crazy, but check your owners manual (mine is the 2000 model) and see
what it says.
