when you start using terms like damper ring and clutch pack, clutch
basket, My eyes start to glaze over and you lose me. I know of the
fibres, the plates (metals) and the clutch ring. It is a skinny thing
that needs needle nose pliers to be removed and it goes around the
clutch at some point. Its kind of like a long wire. I looked it up on
HLSM and it is called a clutch boss ring. 

anyway with my 1500 Long Rod motor, I am seriously wondering how long a
clutch will last in this motor. I am using the barnett fibres. Stock
metals. Dual springs.
