I have a 2000 max and last Friday my local bike shop agreed to help me shim
my needles. A slow day for them and they had done lots of older max bikes.
When they pulled the needles out to add the shim, wow, the needle design
had been changed from what they had previously seen. The needle taper was
tapered and not relatively flat and worst of all, the area to place the
shim/washer now has a little positioner tab and does not allow a washer to be
added for shimming. He was very reluctant to do any change to the needle
itself, so just richened up the carb misxtures and dumped the oem plugs for
some good ngk s. But what about the 2000 max, what is this needle design
change. Do I have to go to a jet kit??
