Your fuel lamp may come on at 45 miles but you may not really be out
of gas at that point ... Of course with the Vmax you have to operate
the "reserve" switch to allow the fuel pump remain active once the
lamp comes on but the fuel tank sensor could be out of adjustment and
you may really have a lot more fuel left than you think, (just a
thought).
Also, if you are backfiring on deceleration ... letting off the gas
... etc ... this is because your pilot mixture is too lean or you have
an air leak in the exhaust ... orrrrrrrrrrrr .. you have at least one
non-functioning coasting enrichment valve.
IMHO as always .....
