I also slid my fork tubes up the triple clamps 1.25".  Of course, this
can only be done to '93 and newer bikes.  I installed Progressive 11.5"
418 shocks on the rear.  Bike sits much lower and being 5'8", I can now
sit on the bike flatfooted on the ground.  As you may have already
heard, the bike will "throw" better in the corners.  I use stock air
pressure (if any) in my fork tubes.  The only problem you may have is
ground clearance if you have Hindle or Holeshot 4-1 exhaust.  I've
whacked my lower exhaust tube three times since I've lowered it, twice
on RH turns and once on a speed bump.  I'm a bit more careful now.  I
will probably change my exhaust to a 4-2 next summer.  It looks better
and will give a few more ponies.

If you don't like the way the bike performs you can easily move the
tubes back down.
