I saw on a Vmax that was just converted to chain drive that PCW had
extended the rear of the tank back through the frame to gain back the
loss of capacity due to making room for the chain . You might give John
a call and see if this could be done for you .
  If you are burning 2.5 gal in 45 miles I would definitely look for the
problem . This is only 18 miles to the gal and is way too rich even for
a 1500 motor on flatslides .  Continued operation will shorten engine
life .
