Eric,
The Royal Star or Royal Star Venture rear is a 10/33 gear set just
like the old Ventures and the Euro Maxes, (as opposed to the 9/33 that
we have on US Maxes). The housing will actually work on a Max but you
have to tap the hole for the shock mount. These rears are also drilled
for a speed sensor, (any Max rear from '96 up has the "boss" but is
not drilled), and this is a great way to feed pulses to an SPA tach
....... (get rid of that speedometer cable !! and you always get 33
pluses per wheel rev). John has been putting 9/33 sets in Royal rears
for the cruiser crowd as this is a biggie hot rod item over there ...
plus they are not hurting since they, (not Ventures), have a .75 5th
gear and a 4th gear that is equal to 5th in a Max ......
