That's too much to lose in my opinion. As I said keeping the revs up keeps
me from speeding too much, that's a good thing for me.
As for acceleration, well who needs to lose that unless you are a
consistent interstate or mainly highway rider.
Come to think of it, I have both so I should just change pumpkins for
different applications. Problem is it's nice outside but I spent all
morning in Hospital with one of our group whose Harley was collected by an
idiot who changed 2 lanes. Harley guy was lucky may only have a broken
wrist. I'm going back out, too good a day to waste sitting here or
changing pumpkins.
I'm going to call Jean Paul in France on Monday to see about that wheel
based on some answers to the following.
One final group of questions:
The stock tyre ratio (diameters) between front and rear as near as I can
make out is as follows...rear 25.60" (650.2mm) front 25.30" (642.6mm) this
98.8%
An 80 series front drops that to 97.26% based on Dunlop tyre diameter list
on their web site. I'm sure most other manufacturers are fairly close to
this.
My brothers XJR-1300 has Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, 630mm rear, 600mm
front so that is 95.2%.
The steering on the XJR is much quicker. This is one of the factors amonst
others I suppose.
Given these relationships if I fitted the BBR wheel with a Pilot or
similar 180/55/17 tyre and kept the stock Max front wheel fitted with a
Pirelli Dragon GTS which I assume is similar in diameter to a Dunlop K591
front 110/80/18 at about 24.90" (632.46mm) then the bias of front to rear
diameter is the other way based on the following...
Rear 630mm to front 632.46mm=100.4%
Are these calculations relevant to the final outcome? will this deal work?
any suggestions aside from telling me to bug off.
