Actually as I remember HTML was a compromise. They really wanted us to use RTF or some other internal proprietary system, and did that in earlier versions. And they still, I think, tack on that stupid .dat file to include special formatting information or something.

Microsoft Outlook was the first program I ever encountered that did the

How they became a monopoly email system is beyond me.  That was (and is)
the point.

We have a meeting coming up.  What are the particulars involved in this?
