Hi All: Just wanted to notify members here who are interested in creating a HS that I have been engaged in a dialog with the CrashCollective/InfoShop on Bank St in Burl. They are in the midst of deciding what they want to do with their org and whether to keep the lease, and have expressed an interest in aligning themselves with the hackerspace contingent of vague.
As always, it boils down to commitment and money.
They have a pledge structure that debits the members paypal accounts and
they are hoping that offering their basement (for a workbench area) and
the other spaces (library, computer lab, etc..) will be inducement to
pledge somewhere in the neighborhood of 400/month from the individuals
interested.
My dialog with the CC has been through a gentleman named Stephen Marshall
over the past few weeks or so. He is not a member of the core group but
has been acting as a facilitator to move this along.
The CC/IS is in a state of flux at the moment. They had a meeting of
the core group, who elected to stick it out and renew the lease; hoping that
other groups may join.
Please NOTE that I have made it clear that I am not speaking for the group;
only persuing a lead that i believe may have potential. Also, I've refrained
from saying anything up till now soas not to raise false hopes or
pitch something that I thought had no chance of getting anywhere.
That said, if we are interested in doing a HS in downtown BURL, this spot
may be pretty good. Worth checking out at least; and then sitting down
with the principals to hash out arrangements.
Any thoughts?

No, the obvious question is why are the NYPD's computer people so dumb that
they're reporting the
generic, worm-generated port, web and ssh scans that everybody sees from China
and everywhere else as
an out-of-the-ordinary hacking attempt?

It's criminal overlord Mandarin, controlling his gang of Triads from an
underground bunker that can
only be accessed via secret door in the base of the Statue of Liberty.
It will take an epic alliance of Tony Stark and Peter Parker to put aside their
past differences,
fighting over the woman they both loved, and both lost, to put a stop to this
criminal masterplot to
end the world as we know it.
Starring: Jackie Chan as the Mandarin
Zac Efron as Peter Parker
and Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark.
