Well, based on the thread and the meeting, it boils down the levels of organization and interest; for events and for just a place to hang out. As for Events, are we 'big tent' or 'little tent'? That answer will shape the types of events and the participants, as well as the imagination for the range of events we can hold. > Personally, I don't think so, though it is promising to see what people did > to start the > webcam-birdhouse project, and I am quite excited about the Arduino > night at VAGUE. Agreed, starting 'small' with a garage event is a good way to measure interest, but something has to take place concurrently that can further solidify organization and planning. A steering committee for instance. > Second, will we have enough people to lend financial > support? At $50 per person per month (a random number I picked) we'll > need 8 people to commit. If the tent is big and the group well-organized, then we could always have a "donation" jar at the events for guests to help defray the costs; like the ham radio attendees or whatever group is dove-tailed into a DIY event. There are no limits to the imaginative ways a HS can raise funding to pay the rent; but it has to start with a place whose location is conducive to attending events and is capable of hosting it comfortably. I suggest visiting the CC/IS website for an overview of what was going on there, event-wise, http://www.crashcollective.org http://www.crashcollective.org/events-calendar.html Rion > > Kevin > -- 3010 Rte 109 Waterville, VT 05492 email: rion_at_dluz.com web: http://dluz.com/Rion/ AIM/Jabber/Google: riondluz Phone: 802.644.2255 http://www.linkedin.com/pub/6/126/769 L I N U X .~.
