What I did: I used a brand new computer with a clean OS install. Same trouble. In fact when I click the quicklaunch link on the Vassal website, it loads the needed files then I have the welcome screen (only 3 buttons and the language listbox). Trouble is that if I switch to other languanges (IT/JP/DE) the GUI and uttons are updated to those languages at once, but English & French choices (for that matter "anglais" & "francais" whatever languages is used), the GUI & buttons are still written only in French. If "anglais" is chosen, then I'll get some rare bits of Vassal in English but mostly everything in french. :( duh
