ok, no worries.

You (or someone else) noticed to copy a *.vmdk file when the load
goes up the wall, and start that new VM.
I think this is too late: when the load is already there, then you
can't wait until e.g. 1gig vmdk file has been copied and that new VM 
has been started - the additional load for copying the VMDK may be
too heavy for the host, or take longer than the load peak.
