I'm not sure if you're confusing two separate issues, or if you're just talking
about two separate issues knowing full well that they are separate. The oracle
extension pack is unrelated to guest additiions. The extension pack gives
things like USB support and RDP console, and it's distributed under a license
that isn't free for some purposes. The guest additions are part of the normal
GPL virtualbox package, and they install drivers and utilities into the guest
to accelerate the guest and provide other features such as time sync and folder
sharing, etc.

It sounds like you got past your extension pack problem, and now you're looking
at guest additions.

This couldn't be simpler. Forget about mounting any iso. Just click on
Machine, and click on "Install Guest Additions." Virtualbox knows where the
iso is (you don't need to know) and virtualbox inserts it into the guest for
you. Depending on your guest configuration, the default behavior is to
autostart the stuff on the CD, which launches the virtualbox guest additions
installer. It's designed to be straightforward and brainless (most of the
time, it performs as designed).
