I even did something I don't usualy do: although I did not needed it according to page, I downloaded and ran their troubleshooting util which did not find anything wrong..... this may not even be a windows issue.... i.e. somehow, vbox does not pick up something audio-related ... host is the only piece of this puzzle that does work and has audio!! thank you, F- FC
