Just for kicks, do you mind downloading and installing this reactOS appliance 
VM and see if you get sound on that one?

(do not click on any banners or buttons, just wait 10 secs and the download of 
the .zip file will auto-start).

I´m just suggesting this as an easy way to check if sound from VBox to the host 
system is working without having to install a full blown MS Windows...

no, i pass ... i rather wait  for 5.1.x  of vbox and start all over ...
or siwtch to Windows [sarcastically [😊]  referring to Ubuntu ]   where these 
things
don't exist or not as often ....
