Paul-
One of the reasons I asked about this was I just had a
problem with a pair of Redington waders with a very
similar hard to find leak. I had already resolved the
problem before I saw the article, but was just curious
for the next time something like this happens. Since I
have no commercial affiliation with Redington, I will
take this opportunity to shamelessly plug their
warranty. My waders were almost 3 seasons old, well
used but not abused and had a leak in the groinal
area-no fun on the Deschutes in mid-December. I spent
hours looking for the leak, took a flashlight and
shined it through the fabric, tried the water test,
everything. The leak was so minute that just a few
hours would only get me a little damp, at first I
thought it was condensation. However, after 6 to 8
hours of deep wading I would be soaked. I went to my
local shop and explained the situation, he gave me a
new pair with no problem and said he would send the
old ones to Redington who would send him a new pair no
hassle, no cost. What's more, the new ones were
heavier fabric, came with a nicer belt and better
suspenders and had a ventilated mesh carry bag thrown
in. Now that's service.
