I am a
believer in the emergent sparkle pupa, the regular sparkle pupa, the dancing
caddis, and the diving caddis.
My
favorite diving caddis wet is one with a natural seal fur body. It is a
great fly in Alberta.
Stangowitz swears by the double wing patterns.
I have
to try his black stonefly pattern.
Does
anyone use his flex hook patterns?

When my son was 11 or 12 and just started fishing, he caught lots of fish on a diving caddis. This is a great fly for a beginner because you can't fish it wrong. I just read his book "Theory of Attraction" for the third or fourth time. I'm in the process of tying six different version of the double wing. I'm going to put them in a box with a label for the proper light conditions this summer and give this theory a shot this summer. Some day, I'm going to spend an entire summer fishing only Lafontaine patterns.
