Up here in the Pacific NW we fish down to a 4 wt in the salt, but then we are 
typically targeting Sea Run Cutthroats. Mostly though, guys fish 6-8wts in 
the salt as hooking a stray Chinook is a teensy bit more than a 4 can handle.
