Don Subject: Re: [VFB] [ Redington / 5wt. in the Saltwater.....nope I'm going to toss poppers in the shallow, rolling surf down in Baja for rooster fish.  They may run 2 lbs or a hundred pounds, or anything in between.  What weight rod would you fish if you had an 8wt, 12 wt, or 14wt to choose from? DonO [Jerry Goldsmith] As ornery as those fish can be my first choice would be the 14wt but they are really impractical to cast and the 12wt should handle most everything that you should catch.  I would load it a 14 wt int. head with running line.   JG
