How about northern California south of Mt. Shasta. There are a ton of great
streams and small lakes in this area. The upper Saccramento River above
Shasta Lake, the McCloud River, The Pitt, Hat Creek. Burney Falls is
beautiful and you can fish above and below the falls. The river there, I
can't remember the name, dumps into Lake Bretton and there is good fishing
there also. There are campgrounds all over the area. There is one right at
Burney Falls. You can get good information about this area from the people
at The Fly Shop in Redding. www.theflyshop.com

If you have a way of floating there is also the Lower Saccramento river
where it flows through Redding and for 20 miles or so south. It is a big
river with great rainbows in it. They say 8,000+ per mile. I drift fished
it last year off of my jet ski. Was staying in an RV Park right on the
river in south Redding. Had never drifted while nymphing in my short fly
fishing life, but with the patterns I bought that were recomended at The Fly
Shop even I caught fish!!!

I'm talking myself into heading back that way again!!! It was fun, think
about it, not that far from you is it?
