Thanks for all the info. Regarding placing of the
guides, I've read several sources that say to tape the
guides to the rod and then take it out and cast with
it. I assume you would want the reel you're going to
use fully loaded with line on the rod, but do you also
run the line thru the guides? Seems it would put a lot
of stress on the taped guides. Do you just false cast
with no line out just to see how it feels and flexes?
Without line out, how do you get the feel of the rod
loading?
