The boys over here use double sided sticky foam or use special hooks designed for the job with a piece of metal coming off at 90 degrees from the middle of the hook, hope this helps,Any guinness guzzling lately Tom.

Greetings Bill !

I've seen it done two different ways. There are little plastic or
plexiglass posts you can trim to appropriate size and glue your flies to
these. The other way I've seen is to get sewing needles, which can be stuck
into the backboard, and the fly hook point stuck through the eye of the
needle and glued. The latter involves cutting the point ends of the needles
off once you've stuck them through the mounting board/matting for the frame,
which is no big deal.
