Please offer your opinions and preferences with respect to
tying thread.
Personally I use sewing thread for most of my "larger" flies. If I am doing a small fly I will use 8/0 Uni thread. I don't spin hair, so I couldn't say on that subject. I like the sewing thread due to its strength, colors that are available, and that it has a built in dubbing loop. Besides, it is cheep, and I tie on a tight budget. Example: Last trip to the fly shop cost me $22.50, and that will be my last for 2 weeks. Every paycheck, I spend about $20-$25 there. its all I can really afford.
