Here's a question for anyone who fishes for steelhead. I recently purchased a new 8 wt rod, reel and a multi tip 8 wt line to go with it.
I'm hoping to do some steelhead fishing this winter and I'll also use it for salmon and saltwater fishing. Here's my question.... Should I use 30 pound or 20 pound backing. I would think that 20 pound would be enough -- however, I've already got some 30 pound backing that came with another reel I purchased a year or so ago. Is 30 pound overkill?
