I had a bad batch of Mustads..had bad eyes and were not correctly tempered.
I sent them back to Mustad and got a nice letter of apology and several
boxes of the correctly tempered hooks. I've used them ever since with only
an occasional bad hook. Today I was tying with Dai Riki's and was very upset
to find, of a package of 25, there were four with soft, wobbly tempering
and 2 with frank fractures where they'd gotten caught in the hook making
machine. Fortunately, none got tied into flies as they were each checked
carefully as soon as they were in the vise and under the magnifying lamp.
