So....by now most of you are wondering how I am liking my ever-so-special Replacement Whiting Chicken (in Cree!!)
It's great! I'd take one of these any day. It's a little hard to actually "collect" feathers from the bird...won't stay still. I also found out that chickens have claws (this lesson was learned the hard way!) After conferring with Resident Hackle Guru DonO (many thanks to you, Don, for your insight into your Wrangle and Strangle technique..) I was able to gather the requisite feathers for a full analysis of said chicken. All this information is now a matter of record.... The number of flies from a Whiting 100............97 (not bad...but certainly Dr. Tom could squeeze a liiiiiittle more from his birdies!) The number of flies from a Whiting Cree Chicken............109! Now - I'm not what one would exactly call a "rocket scientist,"....but that's something like TWELVE more flies!!!! And....since it was a FREE chicken.....an even greater bargain! You would think that with all of the poultry science that Senor Dr. Whiting has had he would be able to figure out how to breed a bird that tastes a little less gamey, though.... Chris
