Rope-dub Deb, What color is the Llama?  I have some nice cream color golden retreaver.  Tends to run about 2-4" long.  When I work up a batch, I use the pet comb!  when I get it full, I pull it off in a roll and then clip through it 4-5 times to shorten up the length!  And boy does that dog float!  She'll get out and the water just runs off her.  Undercoat will still be dry unless she's out there for a while!  Extremely soft and thin in texture!
