Silver badger and honey badger is used on many Irish shrimp pattens.  Also, many classic salmon dressings call for dyed hackles with a dark center (almost none of the old classics use grizzly, the current fad-hackle).  See: Usk Grub, Foxford Shrimp, Childers.

Badger is used in many other patterns, a good amount of New England Streamer patterns call for Badger in the wings...looks alot like the lateral line or dark strip down the sides of various minnows...Lew Oatman's Silver Darter comes to mind. Also I've seen black bodied Wooly Worms palmered with Badger. Jack Dennis seems to use Badger alot for his various Humpies. Also, The Light Spruce or just straight Spruce can be tyed as a very effective dryfly... Oh Yeah, Jack Dennis also mentions that badger was/is a great substitute for Grizzly..when tying the "adams" hackle on patterns. I use badger for tying Elk Hair Caddis patterns. Yes, lotsa use for the badger hackle... Bart is correct, the Spruce is a beautiful streamer/wetfly/dryfly....
