I have tied my own for years for bass/gill fishing John. I have just used mono for mine, and they turn over just fine. If the water is really clear I will put tippet on the end, it not very clear I just use light mono.
For trout I have always bought leaders for some reason.

Does anyone on the list tie their own leaders? I am not talking about furled or braided leaders, just tying different size line together? I was thinking about getting the umpqua leader building kit, or just buying spools of the sizes I need. If you just buy the sizes like say I want to buy .021 for a butt section, do I still just buy leader/tippet material or am i gettign into a different leader material?
