Here is the way I was taught to tie a quick blood knot. Due to the length of the instructions, I will transmit it in several posts.
OK - here goes: 1. Get a 2 - 3 foot piece of cheap mono to practice with; 4-6 lb. test. 2. Cut it into two pieces 12-18 inches long each. In all the following instructions, I am right-handed. If you are left-handed you are on your own. If you get really stuck, I will learn to tie it left handed. 3. Cross the two pieces of mono - left over right so it forms an "X". Hold the center of the "X" between thumb and finger of left hand. 4. With the right hand, take the tag end of the mono sticking out to the right hand side and make saeveral twists around the running mono. The number of twists depends on whether you are tying a 3 - 4 - 5 - blood knot. This refers to the number of wtists on either side of the center point of the know. Generally, the smaller the diameter of the mono, the greater number of twists it will take to secure it. Let's try it with 4 twists on eitthe side of the knot. That is 2 x 4 = 8 twists.
