I will have to look in my school stuff, It is a fact that sticks out in my mind from my Fish & Wildlife management course I took at college. I was quite suprised when I found out myself. From what I can recall the mortalities are from the fish swallowing the hooks deeper than they would by fly or lure. I believe that fly fishing has around a 5-10% mortality and lure fishing is 7-12% don't quote me on that, its been 5 years since I took the class.
