In the UK things are different.  I was 1/3 of the way through a navigation 
course when we lived there on a boat for several years, and realized the 
BIG problem was the Atlantic Ocean is WEST....the whole time I was there 
the charts felt wrong.  My Dad had taught all his girls to navigate, and 
our home rule was the Atlantic was east, so never take the Beetle cat East 
as you would go to England in error, a big lesson for a young teenager.
