Tony, have you ever tried Bois D'arc for reel seats.  You probably like 
me here in Texas, call it BO DOCK, (the horse apple tree).  Anyway, for 
those not familier, Bo Dock is a very hard wood and is yellowish and 
stripped.  I used to use it in making custom Recurve Hunting Bows.  Very 
decorative.

orange is another good wood to use for reel seats.
