Hi Steve,
I've always tied the leeches with marabou. Then I was reading in one of my tying books about using "cross cut" rabbit strips, which when wrapped on the hook (palmered) makes a very nice bushy leech. I tried not weighing them and it took a while to get them down, the rabbit hair longer then the marabou. So I now tie them with different amounts of weight depending on where I fish them. In my opinion though, I would rather use the marabou. I think it gives better movement in the water.
