Hi Ed                                                                                                                             I usually tie the weight on according to the hook size. The diameter wire should be the same size or smaller then the hook diameter. I give them about 10-15 wraps of wire. For ones that I don't want to sink as fast I'll wrap 5-8 wraps and give them something that makes them stand out from the others, maybe a couple of wraps of red thread in the head (something that wouldn't make to much of a difference in the fly) I use that system in a lot of my streamers and nymphs.
