MY advice, and I'm no expert, if you can only take one rod, bring a dry fly rod and reel for it with two spools, one set up for dry fly fishing and one for wet fly fishing, like with a sink-tip.  If you don't have a 2-spooler, bring only the dry set-up.  You can always fish nymphs with shot and a strike indicator on your dry fly rig.  Just stay light in the terminal tackle if you go to wets, and try to pitch-roll cast rather than false cast.
