I think it depends on what kind of flies you plan on tying.  I’m using my Traveler more these days.  I prefer to use my Traveler for all my trout flies and I bought the tube fly head to use on the vise also.   It’s light and portable so I prefer to travel with it.

I have had problems tying with large hooks and bass bugs on the Traveler.  The jaws don’t grip them as well I’ve pulled hooks out of the vise when spinning deer hair or applying a lot of pressure to the hook.   I use my Dyna King for all my saltwater tying, large (Carrie Stevens) streamers, and larger salmon flies.  It has a larger footprint and better jaws.

The Mongoose with the cam head is really a neat vise. I like it second to my Norvise. It holds all hooks wonderfully..small to giant, and has a good turning ration.  Hope this helps. Joyce

Byard likes it too Joyce.  The Griffin detractors seem to be mostly influenced by models other than the Mongoose.  The Traveler has gotten lots of happy tyers posting but one off-list comment from "one that shall not be named but is revered" gave it a thumbs down.
