It all depends.  On you, your size, on where and how you fish, and on and on.  I've been fishing from a kayak for years - 1964.  There are lots of criteria.  You're looking at the Prowler 13?  Its a good compromise boat - too short to really move in open water, a little long for easy manuvering in tight rivers etc.  But not too out of place in either.  The Prowlers get used a lot down here on the Texas Coast.  That and the Tarpons make up about half the boats I see.  You're in South Carolina right?  I wouldn't hesitate to take that boat out into the coastal bays.  Whatever you do, don't buy anything you haven't tried out a couple of times in different conditions.

Another site I spend time on is the bulletin board at www.texaskayakfisherman.com.  Go there, guest is OK, and check out some of the boat discussions that are constantly being rehashed.  Right now I fish a 6 year old Wilderness Systems Pungo - a 12 foot sit inside (SINK).  I'll keep it for the rivers, but I'm looking at the Tarpon 160i (sit on top SOT) as a second boat for the coast.
